Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar or simply B.R. Ambedkar was born to Bhimabai Sakpal and Ramji on 14 April 1891 in Madhya Pradesh. He was the fourteenth child of his parents. Ambedkar's father was a Subedar in the Indian Army and posted at Mhow cantonment, MP.

Dr B R Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, was one of the architects of the Indian Constitution. He was a well-known politician and an eminent jurist. Ambedkar's efforts to eradicate the social evils like untouchablity and caste restrictions were remarkable. The leader, throughout his life, fought for the rights of the dalits and other socially backward classes. Ambedkar was appointed as the nation's first Law Minister in the Cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor in 1990.

SRGI pay homage to Jallianwala Bagh martyrs

Today nation is observing the 90th anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre on April 13. The martyrdom of the hundreds of the innocent people ultimately led the nation to freedom. SRGI pay its heartiest homage & tribute to the brave freedom fighters.

The Jallianwala Bagh incident one of the most brutal incidents that took place during the Indian freedom struggle. This incident still fills the minds of the people with anguish. The Jallianwala Bagh incident played an important role in giving a definite direction to the Indian freedom movement.

On the day of Baishaki, on 13th April 1919 around 10,000 people had gathered at the Jallianwala Bagh to protest peacefully against the oppressive Rowllat Act. These people were unaware of the following danger, which was surrounding them from all the sides in the form of general Dyer and his army. The brutal general ordered his army of 150 soldiers to open fire at the crowd. As the only exit point was blocked and the walls of the park were beyond the reach of the people, the innocent people were trapped helplessly before the spraying bullets. After 15 minutes and 1650 rounds of firing, 400 people were killed on the spot, which included some children. The 1500 wounded people were left to die in the pool of their own blood.

This incident had an international impact, but the guilty General Dyer was not punished for his doings. The Indian freedom struggle took a significant turn from this tragic incident, and the politicians started to ask for complete independence. Although Queen Elizabeth offered a wreath on the Jallianwala Bagh Martyr’s Memorial in 1997, she was unable to wash off the ruthless act of General Dyer.

Cultural significance of Ram Navami
 
The festival of Ram Navami marks the birthday celebrations of the Hindu Lord Rama, who is considered to be one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. According to the Hindu calendar, it falls on the ninth day of the Chaitra month, which is the Spring season. In some parts of India, it is celebrated as a nine-day festival that coincides with Vasanta Navratri, dedicated to the female force or Divine Mother better known as Durga or Shakti. 
 
What are the rituals?
 
Ram Navami is one of the most important festivals of the Vaishnav sect of Hindus. In the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, early morning rituals mark Ram Navami. It entails a havan, chanting of Vedic mantras and offerings of fruits and flowers. A Rama temple is beautifully decorated and the image of the Lord Rama is adorned with rich clothes and jewels. Stories from the Ramayana are read out in joyous public gatherings and satsangs.

Most people fast until midnight. They break their fast with a prasad of fruits and milk.This festival is celebrated with great pomp and glory even in Pondicherry, Rishikesh and Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama. The Ram Navami fair held at Ayodhya draws a huge crowd of dedicated devotees. In the South, this festival is celebrated for nine days as the wedding of Lord Rama and his lovely consort Sita. People sing and chant the name of the Lord. Devotees have a highly colourful ceremony to mark the wedding celebrations. 
 
The legend
The Ramayana is a story of Lord Rama, written by the sage Valmiki in the 4th century B.C.  As the legend goes, Lord Rama, eldest son of King Dashratha, was banished to the forest for 14 long years. He was dethroned due to his stepmother's plans who wanted to see her son Bharata ascend the throne in place of the elder brother Rama. Rama willingly gave away the throne and his wife Sita and brother Lakshman followed Rama to the forest, leaving the throne for Bharata.

In these 14 years of banishment, Rama waged and won a war against the evil Ravana, the King of Lanka, who had kidnapped his wife Sita. He was aided by a band of monkeys, the most loyal of whom is worshipped today as Lord Hanuman. Rama ascended the Ayodhya throne after the triumph over Ravana. Even as he started ruling, he was forced to banish his wife from the kingdom, following a villager's adverse comment about her association with Ravana. The legend is cited to prove how Lord Rama always lived a life of righteousness (dharma). He was born to destroy the evil and protect the weak. As he embodies the highest ideals of man, he is called the Maryada Pushottam, which means the perfect and best man, someone who follows the path of righteousness against all odds. 
 
Significance

Lord Rama was the ideal son, a righteous King, an upright husband and a loving brother. He also led an ideal life of a householder. He was also the true embodiment of humanity. Ram Navami is a therefore a special reminder of the noble ideals for which Lord Rama

Launch of CSEAA- CSE Alumni Association

CSE’s Seminar Hall, wore a celebratory and festive look on 15 October’09, on the occasion of the launch of Alumni Association.The evening was packed with thealumni from the foundation batch to the 2009 passed out. An opportunity was given to every alumnus to share their experience at CSE, and its impact on their career.All the participants opined that the alumni could play an active role in the growth and development of

CSE, and also pledged their active support for the same.
The Celebrations continued as the cultural programme commenced. As the crowd queued up for dinner they were toasted to a musical night. Sound and music, colour and form, energy and rhythm, mixed and fused to provide entertainment. As the function came to an end, the audience reluctantly mumbled to themselves “We have to call it a day!”

Training & Placement

Training & placement of students is one of the main objectives of this institute. The institute is very much concerned with necessity and importance of training & placement right from the inception. As a result, of this institute has provided complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the cell. SRGI had also formed a string team of managers & executives with strong networking contacts and they are assisted by a committee comprising representatives of students from the under-graduate and post-graduate programs.

Training activities are organized throughout the year in an effort towards preparing the prospective students for the campus selection programmes. The cell keeps on invites various industries and reputed firms for campus recruitment. It modules the engineering grades to young corporals. The cell is sensitized to function all through the year towards generating placement and training opportunities for the students.

The cell also arranges industrial training for all the final year students in reputed organizations & puts its best efforts for their placement. In this context, the institute keeps regular contact with various industries through letters, telephones, E-Mail consultants & personal visits.

Experts from industries and other professional organizations are invited for delivering Lectures/Seminars to the students to make them aware of the latest developments in the industry. The cell also organizes entrepreneurial awareness camps, workshops and seminars to encourage the students to become entrepreneurs.
